As lifelong American missionaries retire, the ministry of Casa di Rifugio (House of Refuge) is being turned over to capable European missionaries.

Casa di Rifugio is a migrant and refugee ministry serving the city of Caltanissetta, Sicily, reaching primarily into the local Islamic community. Through a compassion-based ministry, the team meets practical needs while building friendships that open natural opportunities to share the message of Jesus.

Building Bridges Through Relational Ministry & Practical Love

At Casa di Rifugio, their core mission is to share the Gospel by first extending the love of Christ in practical, tangible ways. Through daily interactions—offering warm meals, coffee, and tea, hosting after-school tutoring for youth, Italian language classes for women, providing free clothing, showers, assistance with legal paperwork, and screening soccer matches—we are building deep, trusting relationships. By stepping into their world—becoming "all things to all men"—they have seen wall after wall come down.

Spiritual Battles, Faith-Sharing, and Theological Breakthroughs

The Lord has granted Casa di Rifugio incredible opportunities to sow seeds of truth:

  • Bold Proclamation & Children's Ministry: They present the direct message of the Cross and salvation to Muslim children and mothers, sowing foundational biblical truth.

  • Defending the Faith: God has equipped them to lovingly dismantle false teachings, defend the authority of the Bible, and demonstrate through the Scriptures that Jesus alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

  • Hearts Softening Towards Salvation: Several individuals—from Iraq, Tunisia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan—are experiencing deep spiritual conviction. Some have openly admitted that the Quran and Islam contradict biblical truth. Others have asked for prayer, received portions of Scripture, and experienced the tangible peace and healing power of God in Jesus' name.

Navigating Spiritual Opposition & Ongoing Needs

As the Lord moves, spiritual opposition has also intensified. Several Muslim seekers face immense pressure, threats, and intimidation from local radical Islamic networks when they show interest in Christ.

As they look ahead, they humbly ask you to stand with them in prayer and partnership for:

  1. Protection & Boldness: Pray for spiritual protection over their ministry, their family, and for courage for those Muslim friends who are on the brink of surrendering their lives to Christ.

  2. Divine Healing & Spiritual Breakthroughs: Pray for physical healing and total liberation from spiritual oppression for those they are ministering to.
